The Festival of Arts
The Festival of Arts - California's Premier Fine Art Show is scheduled for July 5 - August 31, 2010. This regional art show features artists only from southern Orange County California. The jury process is highly competitive. Since 1932, the Festival is one of the most prestigious and well-attended shows in the nation, attracting more than 200,000 people annually, with a stellar reputation as a source for original fine art. It has received worldwide recognition - voted as one of the top ten festivals by American Style Readers two years in a row. The exhibition is presented concurrently with the internationally famous Pageant of the Masters during July and August.
The Festival of Arts is a non-profit, committed to excellence. Artists must maintain high standards throughout the show. The Festival of Arts mission is to promote, produce, and sponsor events and activities that encourage the appreciation, study and performance of the arts.
Jury Details/Selection Process Eligibility:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. As a regional art show, only artists who have resided in the following zip codes for at least one year prior to January 22, 2010 qualify*.

*Proof of residency is required, such as a copy of property tax bill or rental/lease agreement. Note: Studio or Gallery location does not qualify as residence.
Exhibitor Standards:
All work must be of original design and solely the work of the artist. The work exhibited must match the quality and style of work as represented in the submitted images. Only original artwork is accepted, no reproductions.
Selection Process - Two Phases:
Applications will be accepted and processed by the Festival of Arts.

The juror entry process is a two-phased jury system. During the first phase, jurors will review the three digital images per media submitted by applicants. The images will be scored on a Yes-No System. Additional medium would require a separate submission. (image requirements: Three images: 5" or 750 pixels on longest-side @ 150 dpi RGB-3 JPEG images burned to a CD and submitted to the FOA – clearly labeled by name and for viewing: Left, Center or Right). All CDs submitted become the property of the Festival of Arts.

The jurors will score the submitted artwork based on quality, intention and content; excellence of craftsmanship; facility with media; excellence in the use of design elements; and professional presentation.
Artists accepted in this first phase will be notified by mail and invited to submit three finished pieces to a physical jurying in Laguna Beach on Saturday, February 20, 2010. The same panel of eight jurors will review the artwork. An invitation will be extended to those who receive the highest scores during phase two to participate in the 2010 Festival of Arts exhibit.
The scores will be posted at the Festival of Arts grounds on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 after 12noon. Scores will not be given out over the phone. Artists who have been juried into the Festival of Arts will be mailed an exhibitor application packet.
2010 Jurors for the Festival of Arts:
Jacques Garnier, Barbara Hendricks, Fred Hope, Bill Hudson, Dr. Bernie M. Jones, Jr., Donita Lloyd, Mia Moore and Jon Seeman.
Acceptance Procedure:
Approximately 140 artists will be accepted into the 2010 Festival of Arts Fine Art Show. Upon acceptance artists will receive
an invoice for booth fees and an exhibitor agreement. Artist must confirm acceptance with payment of booth fee either by cash,
check or charge, a signed agreement, a copy of his/her current Laguna Beach City business license and a copy of his/her State
of California Board of Equalization Seller's Permit. Booth selection and location is at the discretion of the Festival of Arts.
Booth Fees for the Entire Summer Season:
$225 for 8 ft. booth; and $325 for 16 ft. booth with a security deposit of $100.

Computer Technology Workshop: December 12th from 10-11:30am
The Festival will also offer a FREE Computer Tech Workshop at the Southern California Artists Association, 3251 Laguna Canyon Road, #F3, Laguna Beach. This hands-on seminar is perfect for those who are new to Photoshop and other design-related programs. Festival of Arts artist and oil painter Fred Hope will teach the seminar. Limited seating.
